Leading the Chinese language track at ISSA is Mary, Head of Academics extraordinaire. She knows a thing or two about life in China, having spent many years living in different cities – including San Antonio’s sister city of Suzhou. Mary worked on her thesis while in China, obtaining her Masters in Education. Not only has she developed our curriculum as Head of Academics, Mary brings a rich understanding of Chinese culture to the team. Prior to joining ISSA, Mary developed other Chinese immersion programs in Austin and San Antonio.

Alexia Meignan

Alexia has been a wonderful addition to our French immersion program!  She’s a native French speaker with extensive experience caring for children at all stages of early childhood – from caring for newborns in pediatric hospitals to working with children under age 6 in daycare and in the foster care system. Our students are in such good hands  the moment they step into her classroom. Alexia knows just how to create an environment that’s safe, comfortable, and welcoming.

Mamatha Mougili

When it comes to organization and smooth operations, Mamatha is an invaluable resource in her role as School Operations Manager. Having worked with children as a primary school teacher, caregiver, and volunteer, Mamatha brings experience in education and knowledge in preschool administration, which helps our team at ISSA anticipate the needs of our students and parents. She is passionate about literacy, previously participating in the HEB Read3 program, where she taught parents and children the importance of nutrition and education. Mamatha also wrote a children’s book in 2013 titled When I Grow Up.

Katia Edrenkina

Raising two trilingual kids in San Antonio inspired Katia to create a support system through ISSA for other parents raising their own multilingual kids. As founder of ISSA, Katia partners with our teachers to bring a global perspective to our curriculum. She calls San Antonio home, but having lived abroad on 3 different continents taught Katia the importance of breaking language barriers. While working in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility, she developed an award-winning environmental stewardship program for children across the United States. She is passionate about creating local community programs in education and she has extensive experience in bringing together all sectors – government, business and non-profits – for cross-sector collaboration to create opportunities that prepare our students to be global citizens.
